Will Dorton

dortonwill-head10.jpgDP Spotlight Q & A - Will Dorton - C of C Commit: I'm Will Dorton and I attend Lugoff Elgin High School. This past season we won the state championship and it was a great experience for me. This summer I committed to the College of Charleston which I never thought would happen. My sophomore year and the beginning of my junior year I was pretty much unknown in the recruiting world and threw the average low-80's fastball from the right side, until earlier this year when I came in behind my teammate Forrest Koumas at AC Flora and was 87-90. Since then I haven't looked back and am looking forward to the future... To view his Q & A, click here.

Jackson Whitley

whitleyj-stance10.jpgwhitleyj-head10.jpgDiamond Spotlight Q & A - Jackson Whitley - Clemson Commit: North Augusta High School 1B/LHP Jackson Whitley has established himself as a two-way threat on the mound and plate, at the high school level. In his 2011 season, he will have to wear that bullseye as a senior and Tiger commitment. But he did spend a few minutes with DP in our Q & A Spotlight, enjoy: To view, click here.

Recap: 2009 Pro Day Print E-mail
By: Austin Alexander-January 25, 2009

proday09b.jpgOur 3rd Annual Invite-Only Pro Day was a huge success as South Carolina's most decorated talent converged on Brookland-Cayce High School on Sunday morning. As a result, quite a few very important baseball evaluators were on hand. Over 50 scouts and coaches were in attendance including representatives from 24 MLB clubs, the Scouting Bureau, several agents and quite a few cross-checkers set the scene for a perfect day to kickoff the 2009 baseball season...It was, indeed, the place to be on January 25th!

The weather forecast was dead-on, 43 degrees and overcast...but at least it was dry! The temps played a role in the 60 times and bullpen velocities but we still registered 15 sub-7.0/60's and 30 pitchers worked between the mid-80's and 90, led by TL Hanna's Brooks Hall.

hall.brooks.jpgDuring batting practice, line drives were flying all over the yard and shots were banging off of the school, landing on the roof from center to right and baseball's were raining all over the BC tennis courts beyond leftfield. Perhaps the most impressive rounds were turned in by Hall (left) who was locked in and launched his share of dingers to left while Wando's Daniel Aldrich lofted towering shots to right.

pitch.gossettd.jpgA number of guys really boosted their stock with stellar performances including Bamberg-Ehrhardt's Zach Godley, Chesnee's Brandon Henderson, Spartanburg's Brandon Landrie and Byrnes' Daniel Gossett (right)...just to name a few. It was truly a talent-filled roster and a very productive day for future prospects as DP and quite a few scouts came away with valuable information on South Carolina's premier players.

dp_logo1.pngDP Note: We'd like to formally thank Brian Hucks, Cindy Westmoreland and Brookland-Cayce High School for allowing us to invade their facility on Sunday, the Bearcat clan served as great hosts and we appreciate their having us...Also, a big DP high-five to the dozens of scouts and coaches that made the trip to Columbia on Sunday, you guys are an integral component toward a successful event.
