DP headed across the Lake Murray Dam tonight to watch Game Two of the AAAAA State Championship Series between the Foxes of Dutch Fork and the Bengals of Blythewood. Game One was full of fireworks, with the Bengals walking off the Foxes in the bottom of the ninth to secure the series lead. A win tonight would give Head Ball Coach Banks Faulkner his second ring as a head coach, and Blythewood their first ever State Championship in baseball. Across the diamond, the Casey Waites-led Foxes were also looking for the first championship in school history, and Waites first as a head coach.
The home team Foxes sent Clemson commit Ty Olenchuk to the bump and the Bengals countered with Citadel signee John Lanier. The Blythewood team set foot in a visiting dugout for the first time in their last fourteen contests, would the huge crowd and rowdy environment in the ‘Fox Hole’ be too much too overcome? Could Dutch Fork, after a heartbreaking loss on the road send the series to game three with their ace on the mound? DP was there to break down all the action!
